Goodyear will have some delicious barbecue when Mission BBQ opens early next year.

The restaurant, which offers all-American fare while honoring America’s first responders and military, is opening at 15333 West McDowell Road, likely in the early first quarter of 2026.

Mission BBQ was founded by Bill Kraus and Steve “Newt” Newton on September 11, 2011 in Glen Burnie, Maryland. Franchise/partner John Allington tells What Now Phoenix that date was chosen to commemorate 9/11’s terrorist attacks. “The founders love America,” he adds.

In fact, Mission BBQ is much more than a place to get good food. The restaurant regularly honors service members and first responders in many ways.  Each restaurant’s walls are filled with pictures and memorabilia that honors the brave people who serve our country. Mission also spotlights the stories of  local heroes on its site and is active in the communities it feeds. In addition, the company, along with its customers, has donated more than $20 million to charities such as Honor Flight and the USO.

Of course, great food is also part of the restaurant’s “mission”.  Meats are oak smoked for tenderness and flavor. Customers can choose from brisket, pulled pork, pulled chicken, turkey, sausage, or opt for a meat sampler of two, three, or everything. Made from scratch sides include fresh cut fries, mac and cheese, collard greens, baked beans, and more. Mission BBQ also offers family meals and catering.
