Mv Snacks & Sushi, a fusion restaurant that combines Mexican cuisine and sushi, appears to be working on a new location in Mesa at 525 S. Gilbert Rd.
The company’s second location will be opening in the Gilbert Plaza II, according to a liquor license application. It’s unclear exactly when owner Maria Vega expects to open this location, but it should be sooner rather than later, considering its liquor license application was recently approved. When MV Snacks & Sushi opens, customers can expect a handful of breakfast options, fusion sushi, seafood, tacos, and more. The company currently has a location at 1468 E Main St.
This is a massive achievement for Vega, who comes from Movas, a small town in Obregón, Sonora, where she grew up watching, learning, and enjoying her grandmother’s cooking. This is where her passion for the culinary arts began. Years later, she moved to Mesa, Arizona, to pursue her childhood dream of opening her own refresquería—a shop in Mexico where customers can enjoy snacks and refreshments. She named her venture MV Snacks & Sushi. On April 16, 2016, she officially opened the doors of her shop, supported by her husband, her three daughters, and her dedicated team.
The menu at this restaurant features bold flavors from Mexico combined with the artistic presentation typical of Japan. Mexican sushi diverges from traditional sushi, offering a unique blend of cream cheese with grilled meats, shrimp, or charcoal-grilled chicken wrapped in your choice of breaded or non-breaded rolls. One standout dish is the Habanero Roll. This fusion sushi includes shrimp, cucumber, avocado, and cream cheese rolled inside and is topped with a spicy habanero sauce, cucumber, and lime.
