Since 1972, the Vasquez family of Phoenix has been bringing Phoenicians authentic Sonora-style Mexican food. The family’s first restaurant opened under the name Poncho’s. In the 80s, the family opened their first Someburros. Over the years, the restaurant has only grown.

Today, 11 Someburros locations can be found throughout the Valley and Flagstaff. At any of these, you can indulge in slow cooked meats, seasonal vegetables, homemade salsas, and handmade tortillas. According to Someburros’ website, “The original way Nana made it is the only way! Our menu of from-scratch, time-tested family recipes is made fresh with the best quality ingredients each and every day at all of our restaurants.”

And the Valley is about to get a 12th. Speaking with What Now Phoenix, co-owner Tim Vasquez confirmed the restaurant’s intention to open a new location at SW Signal Butte and Guadalupe Roads in Mesa. The space will give the eatery 3,000 square feet to work with.

“We’re really excited to be a part of the Eastmark community, and being family owned and operated, it’s important for us to give back to the community,” Vasquez said.

Vasquez says the goal is to have Eastmark’s Someburros open around September 15th.
