Speedy Street Tacos, the seven-year-old taqueria located at 15 N 40th St, is in the process of being remodeled and rebranded to a Mesquite Fresh Street Mex, after co-founders Naser and Ahmad Alatrash purchased the land. The brothers plan to open their new outpost next January.
“We bought the land and we’re building a brand new building,” Ahmad Alatrash tells What Now Phoenix. “We opened that location seven years ago, and people know that it’s associated with Mesquite, but with the new building we’re going to be changing the name and everything.”
Formerly known as Mr. Mesquite, the restaurant’s name comes from its signature cooking method, which features “open flames on real mesquite wood for a true ‘street’ flavor and authentic Mexican experience.”
Mesquite Fresh Street Mex was founded in 2015 and currently operates nine locations throughout the greater Phoenix region.
