The original Ra Sushi location in Old Town Scottsdale at 3815 N. Scottsdale Road has been temporarily closed for a major renovation, according to its Denver-based parent company, The ONE Group.
The closure is notable as the location has been completely removed from Ra Sushi’s website, and The ONE Group has not provided any timetable for when the restaurant might reopen, according to MouthBySouthwest. Founded in 1997 by Scott Kilpatrick, Rich Howland, Greg Donnally, and chef Tai Obata at the southeast corner of Scottsdale and First Street, Ra Sushi was sold along with three other Valley locations to Benihana in 2002.
The ONE Group acquired both the Benihana and Ra Sushi chains last year. The parent company, which also owns Kona Grill and STK Steakhouse, recently closed the STK location in Old Town Scottsdale and is reportedly searching for a new site. Although it’s being reported that The One Group is likely to reopen STK elsewhere in Phoenix, the company has not officially announced this.
Ra Sushi is renowned for its lively atmosphere, inventive cocktails, and innovative sushi offerings, all designed to create a fun and upbeat dining experience. The restaurant invites guests to discover new flavors in a vibrant atmosphere, accompanied by energetic music and exceptional Japanese cuisine. Whether for sushi aficionados or casual diners, Ra Sushi has positioned itself as a go-to destination for inventive rolls and a dynamic vibe.
