A local restaurateur and entrepreneur, Joey Palomarez, is in the process of launching a new to-go pasta concept in the Valley of the Sun. Palomarez, a managing-partner for The Spaghetti Shack, confirmed the plans via email sharing the first shop will open on Rural and Guadalupe in South Tempe sometime next month. At least one additional store will follow in Gilbert.
Of course if you’re local, By the Bucket comes to mind when you hear the phrase “pasta to-go.” And for good reason. By the Bucket currently has seven shops in operation throughout AZ, with more on the way.
That said, it sounds like The Spaghetti Shack will take its pasta in a slightly different direction. According to a statement from the ownership group shared via Twitter on September 30th, The Spaghetti Shack got its start as an affiliate of By the Bucket, which has begun franchising. “After a lot of thought and conversation among us, we believe that it is in our best interest to forgo using our license we purchased from ‘By the Bucket’ and to instead go in our own direction,” reads part of the statement. The owners then thank By the Bucket for their help.
“We would like you to introduce our new concept, The Spaghetti Shack!” The post goes on. “While we will remain a “to-go” only pasta restaurant, we will be featuring all new recipes, menu items, and some special surprises that we hope you will enjoy!” According to the post, the eatery is awaiting final approval from the city.
At the Tempe location, The Spaghetti Shack will be happily situated among other fast-casual eateries like Andrew’s BBQ Express, Jack in the Box, Chopstick’s Express, and Domino’s Pizza.
