Those in need of a morning bagel in Salem will have a new go-to option very soon.

Northwest Bagels operates out of a private bakery in the city, and is soon to open a location at 190 High Street SE, according to a report from The Statesman Journal. The new shop will serve NY-style bagels with locally sourced ingredients. When contacted, co-owner Corey Davis told What Now Portland he is hoping to open sometime in October.

The shop has been teasing their new Salem location on social media with advertising their sea salt, plain and sesame bagel flavors. Another highlight is their powerseed bagel, with “nutrient-dense seeds,” from a recent Instagram post. Their spreads include cream cheese, vegan cream cheese and hummus.

The bagels are not the only attractions for the new spot as espresso-based drinks and pastries are also on the menu. The plan is for the shop to be a bodega, according to an Instagram post from What is Happening Salem.

This location was once home to Syrian Chef Restaurant, a popular spot for shawarma and falafel. Before this, it was 5 Star Donuts which closed in January this year.

Their website has not been set up yet, but soon they will debut a page for customers to preorder bagels. More information can be found on their Instagram @northwestbagels.
