Battle Grounds Gaming Cafe is opening a new location at 1005 Broadway in downtown Vancouver, Washington, on the corner of Broadway and Evergreen Boulevard. The cafe’s website says the goal is to open no later than early January 2027, with a possible open house in mid-December.
The new space is about 4,119 square feet. It will include a cafe, a gaming area for tournaments and group play, a retail area and three private gaming rooms that each seat up to eight people. Saint Honore Bakery will supply daily baked goods.
The cafe is moving from Portland’s Hollywood District, where it operated for about two and a half years at 3738 NE Sandy Blvd. before closing in August. It opened in January 2024 as a board game and coffee concept, and Steve Coker has been listed as its owner.
At the Hollywood location, the cafe carried a wide mix of tabletop games, including Dungeons & Dragons, Magic: The Gathering, Warhammer and board games like Catan, Azul and Ticket to Ride. It had nearly 200 board games in a lending library, which customers could rent for $5 for three days. Players were expected to buy food or drinks while using the gaming rooms.
Downtown Vancouver sits in Clark County, across the Columbia River from Portland. The new cafe will be one of a handful of gaming spots in the region, and it gives players in Southwest Washington a place to play close to home.
