Local brewers Shawn Bayer and Jill Katsis are bringing their new brewery concept to Sherwood this fall.
According to Bayer, construction for BearKat Brewing at 20345 SW Pacific Highway #404 is underway, and they are in the buildout phase. This has been a three-month process, and now the two are getting ready to showcase their beers to the community. As of July 2, the fermentation tanks have been installed.
The brewery will be sourcing ingredients from the nearby Willamette Valley such as grains, hops and fruits. Bayer and Katsis strategically chose the location to be close to Oregon’s wine country.
“Our beers will reflect the distinctive terror of the region,” says a recent post on their Instagram page.
On their social media, the new business is being labeled as a “brewpub.” Bayer told What Now Portland there will be food served along with the beer. The menu has not been released yet, but there will be small bites.
The name came from the merging of their names, Bayer and Katsis to create BearKat. The brewery will be right off of Pacific Highway, close to the Six Corners neighborhood of Sherwood. This is a commercial area of the city with many restaurants closeby.
