A new coffee shop in the town that’s home to Oregon State University is opening this fall.

The new cafe called Southtown from the owners of Bodhi Bakery is set to open in Corvallis at 120 SW Cummings Avenue this year. This marks the fifth project from Bodhi Group which has three other locations in Western Oregon. It is expected to open in the middle of October.

“In a beloved location with a long legacy of coffee, we’re building a new community hub with a refreshed drink program and a brand-new food menu,” says the post. It continues that “things are moving quickly”

Bodhi has three locations, a bistro in Corvallis, a cafe in Corvallis and a bakery in Albany. Their menus are described as fresh, farm-prepared and organic. Another recent announcement from the company came in August about their first dedicated restaurant coming to 210 First Avenue in Albany.

Southtown is expected to have a menu that mirrors the other locations, with breakfast options like organic oat bowls, sandwiches, bagels and coffees. Owner Cody Utzman told What Now Portland for the new location there will be six varieties of “Happy Mountain Kombucha,” their signature Raw Bodhi Juice and other new smoothies and juices. The food menu will feature smaller plates like bagels and egg sandwiches, the Kentic Bagel being from Corvallis.

As the name implies, the cafe will be on the south side of the city. This is at the corner of SW Cummings Ave and Oregon Route 99W. The location was a former coffee shop, and when Utzman and his team heard it was going to close, they wanted to fill the space for “the community to keep enjoying.”

Utzman is a local chef who has been recognized by The Corvallis Chamber of Commerce as Entrepreneur of the Year in 2024. For more information on the Southtown opening, visit the Bodhi Cafe Instagram page.
