Longtime pizza collaborators will open the doors for their second location next year.
The owners of Charred Apizza have obtained keys to their new space at 553 Main Street in Springfield, taking over the former Noodle N Thai restaurant. This will be sharing the building with another restaurant, and the pizza spot will be open in the evenings. According to owner David Lucht, the restaurant will be opening early next year.
The current Charred Apizza is at 326 Main Street, right down the road from the soon-to-be second location. Lucht said he and his team have been planning a second restaurant for about three years. He and his business partner Terry McKay first worked at the former Ciao Pizza Trattoria, working on Mortadella pies.
It’s exciting, daunting and intimidating, just like the start of any long journey,” says the recent post from the restaurant.
Charred is known for their square Detroit-style pizzas, with options including the Homer with pepperoni, parmesan and hot honey crunch. The Wild Pig with Italian spicy sausage, peppers, ricotta cheese and lemon is also a popular choice. Starters, salads, pastas and sides are offered as well.
Lucht said the new menu will also have their signature Detroit-style, as well as a salad bar with local veggies, and phosphate sodas. This is an older method of making soda, using acid phosphate to give the drinks a more sour taste.
The remodeled space is set to be revealed soon. For more information on Charred Apizza, visit their Facebook page.
