A bar and grill is opening with a new look following the revival of the old building.
Chips Bar and Grill is under construction at 219 W Steuben Street in Bingen, Washington, just over an hour east of Portland. Remodeling is being done inside including the installation of a new kitchen, new walls, floors and an electrical system. The business has faced difficulties with flooding and a recent fire in the area.
The owners of the space are Larry and Diane Murphy, who also manage Murphy’s Family Watering Hole across the street, which was recognized by America’s Best Restaurants. The business gave back to the community following a recent fire and set up clothes and pet food donations. Despite the trying times for the area, the owners are working hard to bring back Chips.
“The opening date is a secret that only Larry and I know, but rest assured, it’s coming real soon!” Says the post on their facebook page.
The space has been known as a bar, also serving food like sandwiches and fries, wraps, soups and salads. It is not confirmed if there will be a new menu with the kitchen being remodeled.
Also in the post, it is mentioned “essential repairs” have to be done before the space can be reopened. It is located next to Carmen’s Kitchen and right in front of the Bingen-White Salmon Amtrak station. Since renovations started those wanting the experience of Chips are told to head to Murphy’s Family Watering Hole.
