One of the largest food cart projects for the Portland area is set to arrive soon.
Work is underway for the Vancouver Station food cart plaza coming to 1817 SE 164th Avenue. It is set to have 40 food carts that have not been announced, and those interested are currently invited to apply for space. The opening date is unknown right now.
“With high foot traffic, it’s the perfect place to showcase your food cart to a hungry crowd,” says the description on their website.
In an article from The Columbian, it’s mentioned there will also be an 8,000 square-foot building housing a dining area, commercial kitchen, coffee stand, ice cream stand and bar. Also inside will be a fireplace area and bathrooms. This whole project is going in front of Big Al’s sports bar.
Vancouver Station owner Tai Dang told What Now Portland the project will be one of the largest food cart pods not just in the Portland area, but around Oregon as a whole. Currently, the BG Food Cartel pod in Beaverton is the largest in the state, with 31 food carts.
The space was an empty parking lot about a year ago, but construction started around the spring of this year. Work on the area is still happening, and restaurants currently in this area include Black Rock Coffee Bar, Sunny’s Diner Vancouver and Gustav’s German cuisine.
