Beaverton Central Parking Garage is adding South Asian ice cream shop, Kulfi, to its growing line-up of tenants, according to a resolution from the Beaverton Urban Redevelopment Agency (BURA). Kulfi will move into a 1,008 square-foot space in the ground-floor commercial area of the parking garage.

Kulfi is co-owned by husband-and-wife duo Kiran Cheema and Gagan Aulakh. The pair first opened Kulfi out of a bike cart. “Gagan did the pedaling, Kiran worked the magic in the kitchen,” Kulfi’s website reads. The pair moved into a brick-and-mortar location on 3540 N Williams Ave. in 2024.
The ice cream shop sells ice cream and popsicles, but specializes in kulfi, a South Asian ice cream. Instead of the traditional churned ice cream found in the U.S., kulfi is made by simmering the cream base, creating a denser frozen treat. The ice cream shop’s kulfi offers six classic flavors and a vegan coconut option. While Kulfi’s mango lassi flavor is the shop’s most popular flavor, malai may be a better introduction as the classic kulfi flavor.

Beaverton Central Parking Garage is a seven-story parking garage with commercial space on the ground floor. Owned by BURA, a city agency devoted to revitalizing downtown Beaverton, has been actively filling its 6,700 square-foot commercial space with tenants. What Now Portland previously reported on a Vietnamese-European bakery called Lumiere opening in the parking garage.

The upcoming ice cream shop does not have an opening date as of yet. What Now Portland has reached out to Kulfi for more information.
