Following the opening of a wine bar in Pearl District, a new concept may be coming to this space.
A liquor license application was recently submitted for Il Corso, coming to 1204 NW Glisan Street. The project comes from William Oben, who opened Fancy Baby in November 2024. Oben has not yet responded for comment about the new concept.
What Now Portland covered Fancy Baby opening in Pearl District in October 2024. It is a Japanese-inspired wine bar with hundreds of bottles to choose from. The location also serves snacks and plates like half dozen oysters, anchovies in gilda sauce and smoked salmon dip.
Fancy Baby is at the corner of NW Glisan Street and NW 12th Avenue, next to Colibri by Tamale Boy. Their social media has made no mention of a new concept coming to the space. It is under the same ownership, so this is either a change of concept or a completely different business.
In the application, there is no restaurant seating included, but the license type is full on-premises. Hours of operation for the inside are 4-10 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and same for outdoor hours.
The project looks to be under the umbrella of Cru & Domaine, the company behind Fancy Baby. More information on Il Corso is expected to be released in the near future, and this article maybe updated.
