The team behind the popular Portland restaurant Kachka is working on something new.
Bonnie Frumkin Morales and Israel Morales are expanding into the space at 2117 NE Oregon Street that was formerly a tasting room from Aimsir Distilling, Eater Portland reports. The move also allows the business to expand its in-house vodka distilling, according to the news outlet.
They hope to open the project in early summer. The name is still to be decided, but the concept will focus on vodka-based drinks and seafood-driven bites.
Kachka opened in Portland in 2014. The menu of the highly acclaimed restaurant highlights “dishes from the former Soviet Union through a Pacific Northwest lens,” including dumplings, pickled vegetables and more. The beverage program features more than 50 different vodka selections, including their signature horseradish vodka, as well as craft cocktails, beer and wine with a focus on Eastern European producers.
They also operate Kachka Lavka, a deli and grocery store upstairs from the restaurant featuring their frozen dumplings, charcuterie, cured fish, freshly baked Eastern European breads and other imported goods.
The Emerald Room, Aimsir Distilling’s tasting room, closed at the space earlier this year.
