A family is bringing a new brewery to a town southeast of Portland.

Heather Kenyon is opening Shorty’s Taphouse with the help of her mother, Diane, at 3890 SW Iris Lane in Culver. This will have around six food trucks in the space. Heather told What Now Portland they are hoping to open by the beginning of October.

From the Bend area, Heather has had a love for taphouses for a while. She believes it’s a great business model as she doesn’t need a food handler’s card, or even make the beer as it is being imported.

“I love the vibe, the atmosphere,” Heather said.

As of Sept. 3, the building arrived at the location. From the outside, it appears to be a storage crate with windows. Now, the owners have secured two food trucks, and are waiting on the other four. It will be a destination for Culver as it is the only taphouse of its kind in the area.

For the menu, there will of course be brews on tap, with the additions of ciders and wine. The types of food carts that will be at the space have not yet been confirmed. Shorty’s Taphouse is meant to be a place to watch sport events and spend time with friends and family.

Construction is ongoing, and a more firm opening date will be released in the near future.
