As one location closes, another might be in the works for the bakery.
From The Oregonian, Nuvrei’s lease at their original 404 NW 10th Avenue headquarters is now up, and owner Marius Pop is seeking a new location. His bakery inside the Portland Visitor Center remains open. Pearl District is the main neighborhood Pop is looking for a new storefront.
Nuvrei has served specially made croissants, pastries, cookies and sandwiches for the past 20 years. Croissant flavors include their chocolate, rose glaze, and banana chocolate walnut. The business also serves Heart Coffee Roasters espresso and the housemade chai.
Before starting his own bakery, Pop worked under French pastry chef Francois Payard in New York. There, he learned how to make classic pastries and then returned to Portland where Nuvrei thrived. He also opened Mac Bar in the basement, which served as a workspace that served croissants all day.
As of now, there have been no announcements on the new space posted to social media. As the lease has been up for some time, Pop knew he would have to close the 404 NW 10th Avenue location eventually. He is expected to announce a new location in the coming months.
