A local restaurateur is building out space for his sandwich shop set to serve the community later this year.
The Noshpit owner Jeff Jones recently applied for space at 1914 N Killingsworth Street in the Overlook neighborhood. He is also seeking outdoor operating hours to utilize the patio. Right now, he does not have a set opening date, but construction on the inside is underway.
KOIN reported in July that Backyard Social was closing. The owner, Danielle Lawrence, cited an expired lease and economic struggles in the small business community. It was soon after that business owners started eying the space.
Jones has not unveiled the menu for The Noshopit yet, but guests can expect many different types of American sandwiches. Also at this address, a business called Hot Dog Jones is listed. The status of the shop is unknown at this time.
Inside, the wall is being painted and various fixtures are being installed. The shop will be across from The Stacks Coffeehouse, and joining other restaurants on N Killingsworth Street. The space will be able to fit around 50 inside, and there will be live music on weekends.
No social media has been set up for the business yet, but more information will be released by the owner in the near future.
