Not too much is known about a new restaurant coming to N Killingsworth Street except sauce will be abundant.

Owner of Sunday Sauce Judson Winquist recently applied for space at 902 N Killingsworth Street. The space was formerly the Los Gorditos Mexican restaurant. It will be coming from a recognized face in restaurant hospitality as Winquist is listed as a co-owner of Normandie bistro.

When speaking with Winquist on the phone, he told What Now Portland the restaurant will have dishes with red sauce as well as an Italian theme. This would be one of the few Italian establishments in the Humboldt neighborhood. A menu has not yet been released.

The new business would be going in right next to E’Njoni Cafe Ethiopian restaurant and across the street from Tulip Shop Tavern. This strip of Killingsworth street has many other bars, restaurants and coffee shops. There is not yet a timeline of opening, but Winquist is expected to release this at a later date.

According to the license application, the hours of operation will be 4 p.m.-10 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. It will have the capacity to seat 44 people inside. There is not any mention of outdoor dining or live music.

More information on the restaurant will be available in the coming weeks.
