A deli restaurant from a local chef and PR professional is coming to the busy SE Division Street.
A liquor license application for a new business called Dream Deli was recently submitted for 3542 SE Division Street. This will be a daytime dining concept that is set to expand to breakfast service and have happy hours. Co-owner Jessie Levine said she and her husband are planning to open in the fall of this year.
Levine and her husband John Bissell, who is the executive chef of Ava Gene’s Italian restaurant, have had the idea for a deli in the back of their minds for more than 10 years. As they also have a connection to the Richmond area, they were inspired to bring their own restaurant concept to the community.
“The choice of Richmond was very much intentional,” Levine told What Now Portland. “We love this community and we’re really looking forward to being a part of it.”
For the menu, it will be inspired by Jewish and Italian delis with nostalgic flavors to “create a dreamy version of the classic deli,” Levine said. It will also have local Oregon products. A drink menu has not been released.
The deli will join many restaurants and bars along SE Division Street. It is set to go next to The End bar at the corner of the building. Directly across the street are Better Days Cafe and Cibo Italian restaurant.
The hours of operation are applied for are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. every day, and this is the same for outdoor dining. The restaurant will be able to seat 19 inside and 12 outside. More information on the restaurant will be released by the owners in the coming weeks.
