The Japanese hot iron plate concept restaurant will soon add the Pacific Northwest to their map.
It was previously released by Pepper Lunch that the company will be opening five locations in Oregon. This expansion will be led by entrepreneur Peter T Ng. The first location will be in Oregon City and is set to open in December.
According to CEO of Hot Palette America which owns Pepper Lunch USA Troy Hooper, the Oregon City location will be at 920 7th Street. Hooper told What Now Portland the company has been looking to expand to the beaver state since July 2023 when they started rebranding.
“The expansion into Oregon is a testament to the power of our concept and the incredible potential of our partners,” Hooper said in a statement.
Pepper Lunch operates 542 restaurants in 17 countries. It started in 1994 in Tokyo as a do-it-yourself teppanyaki restaurant, in which each customer builds their own bowl. Some hot plate dishes offered include teriyaki, curry, pasta, steak, seafood and veggies.
“It’s specifically a Japanese teppanyaki for one or DIY teppanyaki,” Hooper told What Now Portland.
For the Oregon expansion, the company is partnering with Seventh and Monroe, a Oregon-based limited liability company. Oregon City will be the first location opening, following two more stores in 2026 and two more in 2027. The four other locations have not yet been disclosed.
