It hasn’t taken long for the former Misfits Bar location to be sought out by new owners.

A liquor license application was recently submitted for Pickle Back Tavern at 2530 NE 82nd Avenue in Madison South. Owner Michael Zirbes told What Now Portland there is no date of opening yet as permitting and licensing are still happening.

The former Misfits Bar space has been up for sale since July. It hosted music and drag shows, and was known as an LGBTQ+ friendly spot, and the owners announced it was closing in May. The building is next to Pho Oregon Vietnamese Restaurant.

For food, Zirbes said the menu will feature gastropub-style and elevated bar food. From the application, there will be restaurant seating for 90, and there is no mention of outdoor seating. The hours of operation listed right now are everyday 10 a.m.-1 a.m.

Zirbes also works at Neon Cowboy Steakhouse at 18088 Highway 395 in Lakeview. This is his first time opening a restaurant himself, as he sees a great opportunity with the Misfits space.

The bar does not have any social media set up yet. More information on the concept will be released in the coming weeks.
