A Greek restaurant known for its wines and cocktails is moving to a larger location.

Poppi’s Anatolia is officially leaving downtown Eugene for a larger space at the 5th Street Public Market, 296 E 5th Avenue. This is a market with many restaurants, offices and even a hotel. Right now, the estimated opening date is Oct. 7.

According to an article from Lookout Eugene, the new restaurant space will be 1,200 square feet larger than their current downtown Eugene location. It will feature a larger kitchen and a full-service bar. One of the highlights of the bar will be serving Portland-made gin from local distiller Anna Mantheakis.

The current Poppi’s at 992 Willamette Street offers a lunch menu, dinner menu and a special Greek Night menu. This features appetizers like saganaki, mezadakia plates, souvlakis, and soups and salads. The menu is offered Sunday 5-8 p.m.

“Come soak up the beautiful energy here before we move on and grow into our next chapter,” said a recent post on their Instagram page.

The lease for the new space was signed in July, and the final day for the current restaurant will be on Sept. 28. That will allow staff at least a week to prepare the new location. The owners do plan to keep Greek Night as it has become a staple for Poppi’s.

The restaurant’s new space is already listed as being at 5th Street Public Market, and it’s called Poppi’s Greek Taverna. What Now Portland has reached out to the owners of Poppi’s Anatolia, and this article may be updated.
