According to a recent permit filing, Proper Pint Slabtown will open at 2222 NW Raleigh Street, becoming Proper Pint Taproom’s additional location.
A representative of Proper Pint Taproom was not immediately available for commentary upon What Now Portland’s request.
While an official opening date has yet to be confirmed, currently there are two locations of Proper Pint, one in Multnomah Village and the other in SE Portland.
According to an article from The New School, “The second location for Proper Pint taproom has opened in SW Portland’s Multnomah Village area. Proper Pint Oakroom is a small curated beer bar from Sean Hiatt, an industry veteran who previously had long stints with The Civic Taproom before opening up his own place the first Proper Pint in the SE Woodstock area.”
The article describes Hiatt as not just a proprietor but a skilled woodworker who has dedicated himself to building much of the taproom’s furnishings. From bar stools to custom tables that harmonize with the centerpiece back bar, every detail is said to be a testament to his craftsmanship.
For Oakroom, perhaps the most striking feature is the ten-paneled stained glass mural that graces the wall behind the taps. At first glance, it appears to be a meticulously painted mosaic, but upon closer inspection, one realizes that Hiatt built this stained glass masterpiece himself.
The Oakroom Taproom states to take pride in offering a selection of hand-picked, high-end bottled, and canned beers that are perfect for enjoying on-site or taking home. With a carefully curated roster of beverages, Hiatt has deliberately chosen to keep the number of draft beers manageable.
This strategy aims to ensure a high turnover of kegs, with hopes of guaranteeing patrons the freshest and most flavorful brews. Among the 18 draft lines, 11 are dedicated to beer, including one nitro tap. In addition, the taproom boasts three handles for ciders and four for wines, catering to a wide range of tastes, according to The New School article.
