Owners of the Burmese cuisine restaurant may have a new project in store.
A liquor license application was recently received by the city for Rangoon Bistro coming to 2131 SE 11th Avenue. The new location is set to have both indoor and outdoor seating. There has not been a public announcement about the restaurant at this time.
Rangoon Bistro has seen growth in Portland since first opening at 2311 SE 50th Avenue in Southeast Portland, originally starting as a pop-up. What Now Portland reported on their 3747 N Mississippi Avenue location debuting in January 2024. This would be the third expansion for the company.
The Asian cuisine restaurant has popular entrees like pork ribs and three-piece chicken, with sides including coconut rice and dumplings. The locations also serve cocktails, like their LL G&T featuring lime leaf infused with gin and tonic. The menu at both locations are the same.
The bistro was started by Alex Saw, Nick Sherbo and David Sai. The the three met when they were working at Bollywood Theater on Division Street which is now closed. They have spent time in the hospitality business and have now built a chain that has become a known name in Portland.
If the new location were to open, it would either be in the East Portland area or in the Concordia neighborhood, as there are two addresses in the city. What Now Portland has reached out to the owners and is awaiting confirmation.
Once an announcement about the new location is made, expect to see it on their Instagram @rangoonbistro.
