New Concept From Smitty’s Taphouse Owner Coming to Portland

A neighborhood bar and restaurant serving smash burgers and beer will be opening next year.

Next spring is set to be a big year for the owners of Smitty’s in Sellwood-Moreland.

A new bar from Tyler Smith looks to be coming to the area as a liquor license application was recently submitted. The new spot will serve both drinks and bites. The business will not open until around April, and Smith is not releasing an address at this time.

Smith has been the owner of Smitty’s Taphouse since 2021. The restaurant and bar at 7718 13th Avenue, serving local draft beers as well as food like pizza and chips. His new location will serve burgers, sandwiches and wings.

In the application, the space has seating for 73 inside and 54 outside. For hours of operation, these are listed as weekdays 3-9 p.m. and weekends 11 a.m.-9 p.m.

This is a project independent of Smitty’s. Smith has been involved with restaurants in the past, and this is his newest venture.

The new restaurant and bar is expected to debut early next year. No social media has been created for the new business, but is expected to debut in the near future.
