The Idaho-based ice cream company is expanding their Pacific Northwest presence in the Portland suburb.
It was reported by Valley Times that Stella’s Ice Cream will be opening at 21300 SW Langer Farms Pkwy this spring. It marks the company’s first reach into Oregon. Construction is set to start next month, and the shop will open sometime in May.
Franchisees Jenifer and Eric Nelles are locals of the Portland area. The two decided to start the new business venture about 10 months ago as they wanted to pursue something other than corporate America, and landed on Stella’s as they are fans of the ice cream company. Looking around the Portland metro, they found Sherwood to be the right fit for their business.
“Sherwood specifically is very community focused,” Jenifer said.
While many of the favorite scoops will be served at the new shop, visitors can expect a few new flavors the owners will debut. There will be a “flavor of the week,” with experimental flavors like huckleberry. Of course, staple scoops like the rocky road, cake batter and mint chip will still be served.
Stella’s has locations around the U.S. in Idaho, Texas, Nebraska, Arizona, and coming soon to Indiana and Oregon. The first shop in the Beaver State is opening at the Sherwood Parkway South Retail Center. It will be close to other chains on the south side of Tualatin-Sherwood Road, including Chipotle, Starbucks and Red Robin.
Along with being an ice cream shop, the two plan on running a catering operation for events like weddings, birthdays and graduation parties. This is expected to start around the time of the location’s opening.
