Thai Avenue, a new Thai restaurant, is set to open its doors at 6618 SE Powell Blvd, confirmed by its co-owner Viyada Marson.

“We are hoping to be able to open our doors as soon as possible,” Marson told What Now Portland.

“We’re going to be offering classic Thai dishes such as pad thai, but will also have our own special menu options. We are hoping to bring classic dishes to the area, but also keep in mind allergens and dietary restrictions with our own personal takes, after having allergens to ingredients in the classic recipes myself.”

“We’re super excited, my partner and I, Siri, to bring our passion and put it into our food. We’ve been in the industry for around thirty years. Some of the dishes are traditionally difficult to find here in the States,” she added.

For those unfamiliar with Thai food, rooted in centuries-old traditions and influenced by neighboring countries such as China, India, and Malaysia, Thai cuisine is a harmonious blend of sweet, sour, salty, and spicy flavors. With its emphasis on fresh ingredients, aromatic herbs, and skillful preparation, Thai food offers a delightful sensory journey.

One classic Thai dish is Pad Thai, a stir-fried noodle dish that showcases a balance of flavors. Thin rice noodles are sautéed with tofu or shrimp, eggs, bean sprouts, and crushed peanuts, then seasoned with a combination of tamarind paste, fish sauce, lime juice, and palm sugar. This harmonious medley of ingredients creates a symphony of tastes—tangy, slightly sweet, and savory—all in a single mouthful.
