According to a recent permit filing, The 28th Parallels is set to open its doors in the Laurelhurst area, located at 2810 NE Glisan Street.
“We aren’t entirely sure yet of a specific opening date, but our goal is to be able to open sometime in January or February of 2024,” co-owner Tyler Pathammavong told What Now Portland.
“If everything goes according to plan, we will have eight different vendors for food, alongside a beer and wine cart. So far one of our vendors is Thai Twist Sushi, and we hope to have more vendors interested in the space.”
“A big part of our objective right now with my partner on the business and I will be making sure the space looks the best it can before our vendors move in and begin working with us,” he added.
According to Realtor, the space that will be home to The 28th Parallels is approximately 4,900 square footage of a lot space. It is listed as off the market and was last sold in 2014.
For those who are unfamiliar, Thai cuisine is commonly known for its use of aromatic herbs and spices. Lemongrass and fresh coriander commonly are used in Thai dishes or Thai bird’s eye chili. Thai dishes can range from rich and creamy to light and zesty. Traditional Thai meals are also often enjoyed family-style, with a variety of dishes shared among diners.
