The Color Shop, the Annie Sloan flagship store long located inside Lloyd Center, is relocating to 3900 N Mississippi Ave in Portland, according to owner Molly Kiger, who confirmed the move directly to What Now Portland. Kiger said she is targeting an early September reopening at the new address.
The Color Shop has operated inside Lloyd Center near the mall’s ice rink for years, building a following as a DIY home boutique offering hands-on painting workshops, color consulting, home decor, gifts and vintage finds. Kiger described the shop as an Annie Sloan flagship store, carrying the British designer’s well-known Chalk Paint line along with other specialty brands like Iron Orchid Designs and Saltwash. The move comes as Lloyd Center prepares to close to the public, part of a wave of longtime mall tenants relocating to new spaces across Portland.
Kiger said she is looking forward to joining the Mississippi Avenue neighborhood specifically for its creative energy, calling it a natural fit for the shop’s next chapter. The strip has become known in recent years for its concentration of independent boutiques, restaurants and art-focused businesses, making it a popular landing spot for small retailers leaving other parts of the city.
They hope to reopen as soon as possible once the new space is ready, with workshops and custom furniture painting expected to continue alongside the shop’s retail offerings.
