This multi-chain cafe serves Sacramento residents breakfast, lunch, and dinner offerings. The location caters to breakfast, lunch, and dinner crowds. The café’s offerings include popular items such as eggs Benedict and shrimp tacos.
However, the Natomas location of the popular cafe was cited for health violations in a recent inspection. The Sacramento County Environmental Management Department issued Bella Bru Natomas a red placard accordingly. It also asked the cafe owners to stop food operations.
Inspection Findings
The on-site inspectors noted multiple violations of food storage temperatures at Bella Bru Natomas. They observed that potentially hazardous foods like hard-boiled eggs measured 56°F-58°F. It failed to meet the required 41°F or below criterion.
Inspectors also noted that hot water was not available at the café. Additionally, the water heater was broken at Bella Bru Natomas.
The Sacramento-based establishment was then cited for multiple hygiene violations. Violations included unclean meat slicers and dirty soda machine nozzles.
The inspection noted that food was stored in a way that posed cross-contamination risks. Chicken was kept next to beef, posing a cross-contamination risk.
Inspectors observed debris beneath the front counter. Inspectors noted a sticky spill beneath the two-door freezer in the kitchen. Unsanitized cut boards were another violation noted by the inspectors during the routine inspection.
The 3 reach-in refrigeration units were in poor repair as water was observed underneath them. Knives were stored in a bucket of unclean sanitation solution at Bella Bru Natomas. Inspectors observed the hand sink being used for non-handwashing purposes.
The food inspectors reported that the men’s restroom at Bella Bru Natomas did not have a handwashing sign. Further, mops were stored directly against the wall at the cafe.
The café must correct all violations and pass reinspection to receive a green placard and resume operations.
