Chinese Eatery in Sacramento Cited for Multiple Health Violations in Latest Inspection

Galt China Express was cited for improperly holding cooked foods at hot temperatures and for inadequate handwashing practices.

During an inspection on February 3, the Sacramento health department flagged Galt China Express for several health code violations. As a result, the restaurant was issued a yellow placard.

Galt China Express, a Chinese restaurant, was found to be non-compliant with the food safety code. The violations are as follows:

  • All three handwash sinks were found blocked at the time of inspection and were corrected on-site.
  • Fried chicken and cooked chow mein were observed on the cook’s counter with temperatures ranging from 78°F to 109°F. The operator said the food had been cooked 30 minutes before the inspection. The issue was corrected onsite.
  • The operator was seen cleaning a sink and then handling raw meat without washing their hands. This practice was corrected immediately, the report noted.
  • The operator was instructed to ensure all opened food bags are properly sealed, and the issue was corrected the same day.
  • Grease strings were seen on hood filters above the wok station, the inspection report stated.

  • Sanitizer test strips were not available at the time of inspection.
  • A splash guard was missing between the three-compartment sink and the prep sink.
  • The report mentioned that a gas rice cooker was stored outside of the required hood ventilation.
  • No probe thermometer was available for checking food temperatures.
  • Broken tiles were observed behind the front counter steam table, along with peeling walls near the mop sink.

According to the official report, the restaurant was issued a yellow placard and is expected to undergo a reinspection within 24-72 hours. The eatery must correct all the violations to secure the green card.
