Vinhouse Tea & Coffee, a Vietnamese-inspired coffee shop in Sacramento, offers a cozy atmosphere and a variety of hot and cold beverages.

The Sacramento County Environmental Management Department conducted a routine inspection on September 16 at Gerber Rd, Sacramento’s Vinhouse Tea & Coffee. The coffee place received a yellow placard due to its lack of sanitation.

The health inspectors noted that the handwash sink of the facility had no soap, causing a major and repeated violation of sanitation guidelines. Debris and residue behind cooler doors, buildup on the walls of the freezer chest, grime on a box under a leaking ice cooler near the dining area, and grime observed on a box beneath a leaking ice cooler in the dining area.

Food facilities must sanitize all equipment and utensils after service. However, inspectors found that Vinhouse Tea & Coffee had no sanitizer available. A leak was also noticed in the metal cooler that is holding ice. The official report with more detailed information is available here.

The inspection officials advised the facility to equip the handwashing sink with soaps and sanitary single-use towels or a heated-air hand-drying device in approved dispensers. The restaurant is required to train all the operators to follow all the proper sanitation codes.

All the utensils and equipment at the shop are required to be cleaned, properly installed, and kept fully operational.

Follow-Up Inspection

A reinspection is set to be conducted within 24-72 hours, as the coffee place has received a yellow placard. Before the reinspection, the facility needs to correct all the major violations mentioned in the official report.

Vinhouse Tea & Coffee may receive a green placard after passing the reinspection; the yellow placard must remain on display until then.
