According to an article posted on Iowa.Media, Sacramento might be getting a new Thai bar and restaurant called The Coco at 2005 11th St, the former home to South. The restaurant has received its license from the California Department of Alcohol Beverage Control. The Coco plans to be a bar and eatery serving wine, beer, and authentic Thai cuisine, according to city records.

Those who love Thai food may be familiar with the Coconut brand, as there are various other renditions of the same concept across the area. The owner, Nan Pangpanga, is a successful serial restauranteur behind a handful of other Thai restaurants, including three other Coconut locations in Sacramento on T street, Fulton Avenue, and Carlson Drive (River Park), The Coconut at downtown Reno, NV, and a sister concept called Drunken Noodle, located at J Street in Sacramento.

“I cannot say when the 11th Street restaurant will open yet, because we are still in the middle of the permitting and licensing process, and sometimes there may be major delays,” Pangpanga told What Now Sacramento over the phone. “I found this location because I loved the space. I wanted something unique, and this space is just that.”

The Coco at 11th Street will carry all the Coconut menu favorites. Pangpanga is also opening a new The Coconut location in Elk Grove at 8469 Elk Grove Blvd 6. The Elk Grove location will host a grand opening on December 14, 2023.
