The vacant space at 901 K St. in Downtown Sacramento has remained vacant since its previous tenant, Estelle’s Patisserie closed in 2016. Soon, it will become the new home to Sana’a Cafe, a San Francisco-based Yemeni coffee and pastries brand. As of December 2023, plans have been submitted for review. Sana’a Cafe is anticipated to open in early 2024.

Sana’a Cafe has plans to expand in Northern California, eyeing key markets, including Sacramento, Oakland, and San Rafael. The coffee brand showcases traditional Yemeni coffee brewing methods and special Adani Chai, a unique blend of black tea, evaporated milk, cloves, cardamom, cinnamon, and sugar. The menu also has various iced lattes, chai teas, and espresso beverages, as well as classic Yemeni pastries like sabayah and baklava.

Sana’a Cafe prides itself on making its coffee fresh, using its signature Duxtop Stove. Their website stated: “every cup is a journey and every visit is a cherished memory” at Sana’a Cafe.

Sana’a Cafe was established by Bass Cafe Inc and CEO Bassery Alriashi was not available for comments at the time of this coverage. According to a post on the company’s Instagram, the coffee brand has also secured a location in San Rafael and has begun construction. While Sana’a Cafe offers franchise opportunities, both upcoming locations are company-owned.
