Tokyo Express, a popular Japanese restaurant based in Carmichael appears to be working on a second location inside Rocklin Commons. This news was first reported by Sacramento Business Journal.

Owner Yeon Soo Kim recently signed a lease in Rocklin Commons at 5130 Commons Drive, Suite 112. The space is approximately 1,600 square feet. Sitting next to Jersey Mike’s Sub and the complex’s anchor tenant Studio Movie Grill, the suite was last occupied by a Tropical Smoothie Cafe. Other tenants in Rocklin Commons include Panera Bread, Chipotle Mexican Grill, The Brass Tap, and Crumbl Cookies.

” The community in Rocklin is very close knit and friendly and we would like to bring that same type of family friendly energy to Rocklin and offer a premium tasting, while still affordable, japanese cuisine,” Kim told What Now Sacramentoin an email.

Tokyo Express currently operates a location in Carmichael at 4005 Manzanita Ave., Suite 4. The Rocklin Commons restaurant would be the brand’s second location. The restaurant serves a variety of appetizers and entree items, including tempura, salad, noodle plates, fried rice, teriyaki entrees, and sushi options.

Kim is working on some renovations at the space and anticipates to open in the next few months. He mentioned he put in new equipment, added new seatings, updated the wall art and added a new signage. Once works are done, Tokyo Express will open from 11 a.m. to 8:20 p.m. from Monday through Saturday and 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday.

“Our Carmichael location is built almost solely on the locals that we see every week! We love our regular customers and would like to build the same style of welcoming restaurant here in Rocklin,” Kim said.
