It looks like Elk Grove is about to get a little spicier.
Local family-run Mexican eatery Taqueria La Perla Tapatia is planning a new location at 7119 Elk Grove Blvd in the Laguna Promenade shopping mall. Owner Toni Elizabeth Malarkey recently filed for a beer and wine license covering two adjoining suites: No. 119 and No. 121.
This will be the second outpost for La Perla Tapatia, which originally launched in Arden-Arcade’s Taylor Center shopping mall. The family also operates a sister restaurant, Taqueria La Nueva Vallarta, with one location in Sacramento’s Northgate Plaza shopping center and another in Roseville’s Highland Reserve Marketplace.
Known for their casual Mexican fare and salsa bars, both concepts serve “a massive menu of authentic Mexican flavors,” including tacos, burritos, mariscos, nachos, and tortas. Recognized by Yelp in 2023 as one of the nation’s Top 100 Taco Spots, La Perla Tapatia continues to draw fans across the region.
The team teased the Elk Grove expansion on social media back in June, posting: “Elk Grove, prepárense… 😎😈 Your taste buds are about to meet their new obsession. La Perla Tapatía is coming in hot with a brand new location. Let’s make history 🤝🏼”
Company representatives have not yet responded to What Now Sacramento‘s requests for comment, and no official opening date has been announced.
