Redding Public Market, originally slated to open in Summer 2024, now looks at an early 2025 opening. It appears that The Bantam Kitchen & Cooler will also join the public market once it opens. The new downtown location has been marked as “coming soon” on the restaurant’s website.
“The Bantam Kitchen & Cooler is so excited to expand into the future Redding Public Market in downtown Redding. The Redding Public Market will feature multiple culinary spaces, local craft beer, a cocktail and wine experience, along with a grocery space, incredible baked goods, and more,” the webpage stated.
Owned by Joe and Kate Wood and Hannah Peasha, Bantam Kitchen opened its flagship location in East Side Redding at 2704 Hartnell Avenue in 2020. The menu features classic Southern flavors such as Shirmp & Grits, Catfish & Chips, and Jambalaya. In addition to the downtown location, the Woods are also working on a new concept called Honeymoon Southern Kitchen in the old Moonstone Bistro space.
Other food tenants confirmed for Redding Public Market include Fall River Brewing, a wine bar created by a local sommelier, an Asian noodle house, and a bakery concept. The project is developed by K2 Development.
“Our vision is to create a gathering place, where residents and tourists can find superb local artisan foods, craft cocktails, best-in-class beer and wine, as well as other merchants and restauranteurs who showcase the best our community has to offer. Our hope is that it will become another engine that drives downtown, transforming it into a vibrant atmosphere that is full of activity every day of the week,” said
Allen Knott, CEO of K2 Development Companies in a statement.
