Another local eatery will join Terminal A later this year. Bawk! By Urban Roots is partnering up with High Flying Foods to open a location at Sacramento International Airport’s Terminal B. According to an opening timeframe published on ABC10, Bawk! is among the first batch of eateries that will open. The opening is anticipated between June and August 2024.

Bawk! announced on Facebook its upcoming airport location with a storefront rendering on February 7. “Attention all travelers! 🛬 BAWK! is gearing up to make your airport experience finger-lickin’ good with our latest location coming soon to the Sacramento International Airport (SMF)!” The post announced.

In 2020, Urban Roots Brewing & Smokehouse co-owners Rob Archie and Peter Hoey decided to branch out and founded Bawk! and opened its flagship store on R Street in a space that’s only a short walk from Urban Roots on V Street. Venturing away from Urban Root’s beer and BBQ offerings, Bawk! Chicken + Bar proudly offers “all things chicken,” as stated on the business’s website.

“We’re excited to serve quality food and drinks to those coming in and out of our city,” said Archie in an email.

Now, the eatery is bringing its iconic chicken dishes and Urban Roots beer to Sacramento International Airport’s Terminal A. The Terminal A kitchen is overseen by High Flying Foods, which has also been awarded to operate the Nixtaco and Temple Coffee storefront in the terminal. High Flying Foods is a California-based airport concessionaire with 40 locations in seven major international airports.

“Due to [High Flying Food’s] great reputation, we decided to partner with them in this project,” commented Archie.

All concepts managed by High Flying Foods are slated to open during Phase One. Also opening in the same phase are the Bambuza Kitchen (Terminal A), Starbucks at Golden Grove Market, Wendy’s (Terminal A), and Sidewalk Juice (both Terminals).
