Local favorite Betty Wine Bar + Bistro is expanding to East Sacramento.

According to a recent report from abridged.com, chef and restaurateur Chris Barnum-Dann, known for building Localis into one of the city’s premier fine-dining destinations, is opening a second Betty at 3815 J Street. The venue will take over a space that formerly housed a Starbucks and is slated to open in roughly six months.

The expansion comes on the heels of a surprisingly strong start to 2026. Despite January typically being a slow period for restaurants, Betty recorded its second-highest grossing month since its 2022 debut. That success, Barnum-Dann told the publication, gave him the confidence to bring Betty’s approachable Parisian bistro vibe to a new neighborhood.

Betty on J will retain fan-favorite dishes from Southside Park, including green curry ceviche, bucatini all’amatriciana, and Thai beef carpaccio, while offering more space for a few new menu items. A planned kitchen hood will allow for a house burger and moules-frites, pairing perfectly with the restaurant’s curated wine list.

Mornings will kick off with general manager Sam Han’s coffee program and Holly Lee’s pastries, serving nearby hospital staff before the space transitions into evening wine and oyster service.

Looking beyond J Street, Barnum-Dann is also developing a trio of complementary projects on the ground floor of a five-story apartment building at 16th and Broadway: Sacasta, a tapas and pintxos bar; a European-style market called Giadanno’s; and 4B, a high-end wine shop.

Set to open within a year, the three concepts will bring new dining and shopping options to the city while supporting Barnum-Dann’s growing hospitality group, Celebrate Together. Stay tuned for additional details as these exciting expansions come to life in Sacramento.
