A new “farm-to-fork” restaurant is headed for Historic Downtown Galt.
Block 7 is taking shape at 218 South Lincoln Way, a historic property that was known by the same name during Galt’s early annexation. After decades of dormancy, the team is bringing the landmark back to life.
The vision comes from husband-and-wife entrepreneurs Mark Hutchason and Belinda Gutierrez, who are teaming up with local Chef and Director of Food and Beverage Julio Cambreros. According to the restaurant’s website, Block 7 will be “a celebration of everything that makes Galt home.”
“From the fields that surround us, to the artisans and ranchers who sustain us—every plate will tell their story,” the team writes. They describe the concept as a “true farm-to-fork experience” that’s “designed with thought, built with care,” and guided by Cambreros’ culinary leadership.
With over three decades of industry experience, Cambreros has cooked everywhere from fine-dining restaurants and high-volume venues to acclaimed hotel kitchens and even a major sports arena. His passion for farm-to-table cooking fuels close partnerships with local farmers and purveyors, helping position him as a rising leader in Galt’s growing food scene.
The Block 7 team is currently restoring the historic property, transforming it into a warm gathering space for the community. Envisioned as both a “tribute to Galt’s past and a toast to its future,” the restaurant is expected to debut in mid-2026.
What Now Sacramento has reached out to restaurant representatives for more details on the menu and opening timeline and will update this page as additional information is released. In the meantime, check out Block 7 on Facebook.
