It looks like a Sacramento Chinese and seafood buffet is expanding to a familiar space in Roseville.
Signage for Captain Buffet was recently spotted at the former Claim Jumper location at 250 Harding Blvd, according to a local Reddit thread. The sighting aligns with a recent report from the Sacramento Business Journal, which states that the property’s new owners plan to transform the longtime restaurant space into a Chinese buffet.
Captain Buffet currently operates one location on Howe Ave in Sacramento, which opened last summer. While owner Shawn Li did not respond to requests for comment from What Now Sacramento, the restaurant’s Facebook page describes the concept as “an all-you-can-eat dining experience featuring a wide selection of fresh, high-quality dishes that cater to every craving.”
If the Roseville outpost mirrors the original, diners can expect a sprawling buffet lineup, with offerings ranging from “expertly crafted sushi rolls and sashimi to sizzling hibachi-grilled favorites.”
Seafood staples such as crab legs, shrimp, mussels, and crawfish anchor the spread, alongside both Asian-inspired classics and American comfort foods. Hot bar selections are likely to include familiar crowd-pleasers like General Tso’s chicken, coconut shrimp, fried rice, and lo mein, plus dim sum-style bites and soups.
An official opening date has not yet been announced, but the Sacramento Business Journal reports that the new buffet is expected to debut before the end of 2026.
