An immersive cereal wonderland in Old Sacramento is pressing pause.
Cerealism Dessert Bar & Craft Café recently announced that it has temporarily closed its shop at 128 K St for renovations throughout February and March, with plans to reopen refreshed and reimagined this spring.
“We’ve got a little bittersweet update,” the team shared in a February 2 social media post. “We’ll be temporarily closed February & March while we renovate and level up your Cerealism experience. This is just a pause! We’re absolutely coming back, and better than ever. While we’ll miss seeing your faces, we’re excited for what’s ahead. We Cereal-ously appreciate you and we will see you soon🥣✨”
Founded by local entrepreneur Laterica Reddix-Espinoza, Cerealism first opened in 2022 after gaining early buzz as a top-five finalist in Downtown Sacramento’s 2019 Calling All Dreamers contest. Her vision was to “bring morning vibes to your everyday lives” by transforming nostalgic breakfast cereals into over-the-top desserts and playful creations.
With more than 75 cereal varieties on deck, diners can build a classic bowl or go fully custom—mixing cereals, choosing from 50-plus toppings, and selecting flavored milks ranging from strawberry to chocolate and beyond. Bowls can be upgraded into cereal-infused ice cream creations or blended into milkshakes served in nostalgic milk cartons, according to a page on the Old Sacramento website.
Beyond the basics, the menu leans fully into the theme with cereal toast, cereal sushi rolls, cereal tacos, overnight oats, keto-friendly cereal options, drinks, and fresh fruit toppings sourced from the local farmers market.
The immersive interior is just as much a draw as the menu. The café currently features four themed rooms, including a Froot Loops-inspired “Toucan Sam” space, a Captain Crunch Island Beach Club, a Lucky Charms room, and a Super Mario-themed gaming lounge where guests can watch vintage cartoons or play board and video games. It remains unclear which elements of the space will be refreshed during the renovation.
While an exact reopening date has not yet been announced, the team promises the closure is temporary. What Now Sacramento has reached out to Reddix-Espinoza for additional details regarding the renovations and reopening timeline, so keep an eye out for updates.
