A new spot for dim sum and Asian baked goods is coming soon to South Land Park.

Tai Pan, a family-run concept, is opening its first Sacramento shop at 4400 Freeport Blvd, Suite 160 in the Sutterville Square shopping center. While the team behind Tai Pan has owned other businesses in the Bay Area, this new Sacramento location is an entirely separate venture—its own brand and concept.

“Tai Pan is a dim sum and bakery concept that my family and a few close partners are excited to bring to Sacramento,” Britney Chiu, who handles communications and is the daughter of one of the owners, told What Now Sacramento. “After relocating to Sacramento, it became more difficult to manage the San Jose branches, so we decided to start something fresh and closer to home.”

Tai Pan has partnered with industry veterans who bring over 20 years of experience in dim sum and Chinese baking. Sacramento diners can look forward to a sprawling menu of dim sum, pastries, and musubi, with highlights including egg custard tarts, barbecue pork buns, pineapple buns, hot dog buns, taro buns, sticky rice, steamed and fried dumplings, gyoza, porridge, and sponge cake.

Inside, the shop will lean clean and modern—”simple yet cozy,” Britney says—displays brimming with fresh pastries and dim sum. Seating will be limited due to plaza restrictions, so the space is designed mainly for takeout. Luckily, there’s a nearby park that’s perfect for enjoying food with friends.

“For over 20 years, Tai Pan Dim Sum & Bakery has been a Bay Area favorite, and we’re thrilled to bring our delightful flavors to Sacramento,” the owners shared in a recent YouTube video. “Imagine biting into fresh, steaming dim sum, or savoring our delightful bakery treats, all served with a smile. From traditional favorites to unique creations, we’ve got something to tantalize every taste bud. Whether you’re a dim sum devotee or curious foodie, Tai Pan is your new go-to spot.”

The team is currently wrapping up final inspections and expects Tai Pan Sacramento to open its doors in mid-August 2025. For opening day updates, follow the bakery on Instagram.
