A local Hawaiian barbecue eatery is gearing up for an expansion.

DQ Hawaiian BBQ is planning its second location at 9160 E Stockton Blvd, Suite 130, in Elk Grove‘s Marketplace 99 South. The new restaurant will join a diverse lineup of dining options in the shopping center, including Rose Tea Lounge, Kobe Steak & Sushi, and IHOP.

In a social media update announcing the news, owner Daiqi Wu expressed enthusiasm about the expansion: “We look forward to welcoming you and sharing the taste of the islands with the Elk Grove community.”

A fusion of Hawaiian, Asian, and American flavors, Hawaiian barbecue typically features dishes like kalua pig (slow-roasted pork) and huli-huli chicken (rotisserie-grilled chicken), and is often served as part of a plate lunch.

The original DQ Hawaiian BBQ debuted in Del Paso Heights late last year and quickly built a loyal following for its hearty menu of island staples such as barbecue plates, chicken katsu, and Spam musubi. The eatery also serves burgers, tacos, and sides like macaroni salad and pork lumpia.

Wu briefly confirmed the expansion with What Now Sacramento, but noted that a grand opening has yet to be set. “Follow us for updates on our official opening date and upcoming special events,” Wu said.
