For more than two decades, a local baker has been delighting friends and neighbors with her homemade sweet treats. Now, she’s bringing them to a wider audience.
Mandy Evans, founder of online bakery business Caked, will soon open her first bakery and ice cream shop at 1430 Broadway in Placerville, near the Grocery Outlet supermarket. The 1,200-square-foot storefront will offer both indoor and outdoor seating and is scheduled to open in late January or early February 2026.
“After more than 25 years of decorating cakes from my home kitchen, pouring my heart into every swirl of buttercream and every celebration you’ve trusted me to be part of… it’s finally time,” Evans announced on social media. “I’m opening my very first STOREFRONT BAKERY and ICE CREAM SHOP… I cannot wait to welcome you in, share new treats, old favorites, and be part of even more memories.”
Evans first began baking when she was just 15 years old, never imagining the hobby would grow into a passion she’d carry into adulthood. She said that the storefront will feature her signature custom cakes, cupcakes, and cake pops in flavors like funfetti, snickerdoodle, chocolate, and lemon, along with pies, cheesecakes, and other pastries. Fans can also expect a variety of ice cream-centric treats, including cakes and cookies.
“I’m most excited to finally open Caked in Placerville because it feels like bringing a little dream to life, right in the heart of a town I love,” Evans told What Now Sacramento. “It’s a chance to share my fresh-baked goods and creativity. Creating a space where people can slow down, enjoy something sweet, and feel at home when they walk through the door.”
