Fluffy Donuts temporarily closed its University Mall location after receiving a notice to move out. Many UC Davis students called Fluffy Donuts one of their favorite local businesses and were heartbroken over the eviction. This month, Fluffy Donuts shared on Facebook that it had secured a lease for a new space in the Westlake Plaza at 1260 Lake Blvd., Suite 110.

The business mentioned on its social media that it will be building the new shop “from the ground up” and is hoping to open its doors in the next few months, joining the existing roster of beloved local businesses in the strip mall, including SuperOwl, Lampost, T-Kumi, and Mandro Teahouse.

Having served the Davis community for over 40 years, Fluffy Donuts is a family legacy and a Davis staple. In 2018, Sak Sopheak, a nephew to the previous owner Hank Ou, took over the shop. Sopheak has been searching for a long-term lease for a new spot ever since he received the eviction notice from the university.

The new space in the Westlake Plaza takes up approximately 1,417 square feet. The turn-key space comes with a ready-made kitchen and a storage area. Leasing documents indicate the new restaurant has a large retail area, a service counter, a seating area on the right, and another service counter. Covered outdoor seating is also available.
