A new café will soon replace a specialty grocer in Arden-Arcade.

Greek Food Imports owner Kostas Panayotakopoulos recently announced the closure of his brick-and-mortar business at 650 Fulton Ave. The specialty grocer, which opened in 2016, has long been a haven for imported Greek goods and Meditteranean staples.

Panayotakopoulos has sold the building to Ryan Forrest and his business partner, Trevor—loyal customers and dear friends—who plan to open Chez Luc’s French Café in its place.

Although Ryan and Trevor could not be reached for comment, Panayotakopoulos shared a few details about the duo’s plans for the café. The menu will include fresh sandwiches and house-roasted coffee—a natural fit, given that Ryan and his wife, Meagan, also run Navigo Coffee Company, a small-batch roastery they founded in 2021.

As for the future of Greek Food Imports, Panayotakopoulos says he’s transitioning to an expansive e-commerce model, operating entirely out of Greece. The new digital shop will offer a vast array of Greek goods sourced directly from the region.

“We’re excited about the new chapter online—and even more thrilled about the arrival of Chez Luc’s French Café!” Panayotakopoulos told What Now Sacramento.

Keep an eye out for updates as Chez Luc’s prepares to bring a little taste of France to Arden-Arcade.
