Missing your Japanese food fixing after the recent shutdown of Aura Korean & Japanese Restaurant? Don’t worry: a new Japanese restaurant is coming into Aura’s old place in a month. Kumi Sushi, owned by Daisy Ye, is set to open in Winter 2024 and will serve sushi, sashimi, and teriyaki dishes, as well as beer and wine.

While there is no clear reason why Aura has closed, Kumi, as the newcomer, is confident in taking over the now-vacant space. Owner Daisy Ye is an experienced restaurant owner who also operates Ebisu Sushi in Elk Grove, which has been providing excellent food and services for the past two years.

As of now, Ye has signed the lease for the new space, and the business’s liquor license is pending. Ye also plans to hire a team of eight or so as the restaurant approaches opening, which is anticipated in November or December. By the time of this coverage, Ye has not responded to What Now Sacramento’s email request for comments.
